September 2021
With August 2021 newsletter not being shared with all residents by GreenSquareAccord (and with an ongoing list of overdue actions) it was hoped that a succinct newsletter would be published. However this was not the case.
At least now the residents are receiving letters to confirm that there won’t be a newsletter. It is reassuring to hear that there will be a further update regarding the window(s) and door(s) replacement consolation. As summer officially ends on 21st September the agreed deadline for this issue to be resolved is fast approaching.
No mention of when residents can expect to have the CCTV issue resolved, the smoke vent issue addressed or even an update to the bin stores issue. As a recap the bin store issue has a resloution date of October 2020 - In a letter sent to all residents on 29th September 2020 the following action was agreed:
All bin store doors broken - original job had to be abandon due to the doors being faulty. New doors are due in and will be fitted in October.
Last timber on roof to each bin store loose - job is raised for internal team to complete.
Zoe Peckover and Sharon Fry (Leasehold Officer and Area Surveyor)
So again it seems that the communication from GSA has stalled. However this letter has produced yet another issue.
Data Protection Breach
Each letter was double printed. Side one had the name and address of the recipient, on the reverse side the name and address of the recipients neighbour. Whilst this may seem inconsequential (why would it be an issue if our neighbours knew our name) not all neighbours share such a harmonious relationship as the residents of Maureen Christian House.
This is a clear example of GreenSquareAccord failing to conduct proper and full due diligence when handling and processing customer data.
As listed as an example of the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) website:
Personal data breaches can include:
access by an unauthorised third party;
deliberate or accidental action (or inaction) by a controller or processor;
sending personal data to an incorrect recipient;
computing devices containing personal data being lost or stolen;
alteration of personal data without permission; and
loss of availability of personal data.
As this breach can (and should be contained) one of the Maureen Christian House residents has now reported this to GreenSquareAccord data protection team. It is hoped that GSA will take the appropriate action to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
A personal data breach may, if not addressed in an appropriate and timely manner, result in physical, material or non-material damage to natural persons such as loss of control over their personal data or limitation of their rights, discrimination, identity theft or fraud, financial loss, unauthorised reversal of pseudonymisation, damage to reputation, loss of confidentiality of personal data protected by professional secrecy or any other significant economic or social disadvantage to the natural person concerned. - Recital 85 of the UK GDPR
