“Let’s just pay the fines, it’s cheaper!”

In the face of ongoing lift faults persisting GreenSquareAccord seems to be taking a concerning stance - "Let’s just pay the fines, it’s cheaper!"

Despite clear instructions from the Housing Ombudsman's investigation to rectify these issues, the lifts remain faulty, posing a continued risk to the lives of residents and contractors. This not only jeopardises the safety of the community but also adds an extra layer of inconvenience for residents, especially the elderly and vulnerable, who now navigate flights of stairs for routine tasks like bringing in their shopping.

Despite the gravity of the situation and the risks involved, the Housing Ombudsman's investigation has been closed, seemingly leaving GreenSquareAccord content with the status quo of merely paying fines rather than addressing the known and persistent issues.

In response to this disconcerting state of affairs, I have taken the initiative to reopen the investigation through the following open letter, highlighting the ongoing risks, inconveniences faced by the community, and the urgent need for GreenSquareAccord to prioritise resident safety over financial considerations.

  • Will they ever fix the lifts?

  • Is it just cheaper to pay fines?

  • What power does the Housing Ombudsman have to enforce the required action after they publish their findings?
