The Overgrowth!

The team responsible for maintaining our hedges and grass areas are apparently (and according to GSA) on a fourteen-day turn around. Although the tenants of MCH (and they have been working from home so they’d know) haven’t seen anyone for months, possible even a year. The last time anyone remembers the hedges being cut was August 2020, if this is not correct as soon as GSA send the details of when the bushes had a trim we will update here. This may seem trivial and compared to other issues it is, however if residents pay for a service shouldn’t they receive it?

Although trivial this lack of service does hinder access for people who require supported access, and with the light bollards causing security doors to trip and remain open this also further puts tenants at risk.

An Update!

Typical British summer? My tomatoes would disagree.

Still at least now this has been acknowledged and we can expect this issue to be resolved soon! However as this was also acknowledged and promised via email on the 18th June:

You mentioned the hedgerow is becoming overgrown again and would like this dealt with on the next GM visit. I confirmed the GM team are on a 14 working day rota (weather dependent). You also raised an issue about the underground car park looking untidy with foliage built up in certain areas. This will require the GM team to attend as they have the appropriate equipment to clean out the underground car park and I will raise this again with the Estates Management Team. This will be more accessible now that we have a fob to the underground car park.

Updates to follow I’m sure.

Whilst all tenants are mindful of a reduced service due to COVID19 (with many themselves working on a reduced wage) they haven’t seen a reduction in the service charge.

UPDATE - Work has commenced!

19th August 2021

On the same week this article was published and the Ombudsmen started their investigation work has commenced! After numerous resident emails and calls GSA are (for the first time this year) cutting the grass and trimming back the overgrown hedgers.

Will there be a reduction in the service charge?
